Survey

Synthetic biology offers great promise in developing living systems that rapidly detect, recognize, actuate, and mitigate emergent biological threats to our health and environment, such as those defined by the WHO and the CDC. However, delivering on the full potential of living technologies will require diverse perspectives and interdisciplinary research that connects various science and engineering disciplines.

To understand the communities to advance this scholarship, a survey has been developed for the broader community. This survey invites members of the community to provide feedback on the potential of living sensors and actuators research and the current needs to create meaningful advances in such technologies. Survey responses will be used in anonymized aggregated form to help frame the discussions at an upcoming workshop hosted in August 2023. This survey should take less than 10 minutes to complete.

When completing the survey, please feel free to answer only the subset of questions where you are comfortable responding given your scholarly expertise.

This survey was closed on August 14, 2023. Results of the survey are summarized in the workshop report.
